Devil with the Green Eyes

I know you can only see me as a vision.

Once is coincidence, twice is happenstance, three times is enemy action

That quote doesn't exactly apply to the coincidence I'm thinking about, but a friend told it to me the other day, and I like it.
I got another e-mail from an old high school friend. She and I were very close up through the end of junior year, when she and her family moved away. Her sister was a couple of years ahead of me, and got some sort of newsletter from the high school, with information about my class' reunion. She showed it to my old friend, and here we are, back in contact. I haven't seen her since 1998, I think.
The coincidence was that I was talking about her just the day before. I hadn't thought about her for a very long time, but I was telling the pilot all about her. Seems she's living out west now, doing very well. She's got a good job and a good man and is enjoying life, which makes me so glad. Now I get to find out everything my old friend has been up to and see what we can remember from when we hung out a hundred years ago and chased boys and ran away from boys and wore neon pink shoes and 40 bracelets on each arm. Come on, it was the 80s.
Good things do come to good people, as I can attest.

Life is good

Don't you wish you were me?

In a few hours, I'm going on a kick-ass vacation with the pilot. First class all the way and my toes will meet the sand once again. Swimsuit bottoms only needed -- tops optional so who needs 'em? :)

Hasta la vista, my friends!

Unexpected things that happened yesterday

I won a copy of this book. WTF? Why would I want a hip-hop superstar in my house? Plus, anyone who says they ALWAYS tell the truth is a damned liar.

I met a schizophrenic. I took it as a very good sign that I couldn't follow his story about the rosary, the devil, making the devil eat it, the Mediterranean, Clint Eastwood, the Bolshevik Revolution and Jack Webb.

I got a marriage proposal.

"You are now divorced and a single person"

It's been a long time since I anticipated a piece of mail so urgently. But today, it's here! I'm divorced! Not an actual huge difference in my life -- I already made the changes I wanted to make and I love and cherish the path I'm on. It's MY path. Mine and my loved ones. It's just official, one more moment. I don't regret one minute of my life, I've never been happier, more content or excited about every day. I am blessed.

Giving is better than receiving

I love my job. How many of you can say that? I know how absolutely fortunate I am that I work in an office with smart, smart-aleck, hilarious, daring, dedicated, supportive, driven, loyal and generous people. We have a great thing going here. In the entire time I've been here, only a couple of people have left. It's that good. The work is challenging but we laugh all day and would (and do) do anything for each other, inside or outside the office. I've never worked in a better environment with better people. What makes me respect all my coworkers more is the fact that they're all very cognizant of how lucky we are and how good life is. We often get together to try to spread the wealth around. It gives me chills to look the pictures of the unit in Iraq that we as an office adopted. Sending them boxes full of the material things that they need or that might help them distract their minds from the danger all around them makes a little difference, I hope. May they all come home safely soon.

I won on the Derby!

Thanks for the $110, Street Sense, you beautiful beast. Okay, okay, it was through no skill or decision-making of my own, but I still won the cash. And that's all that matters.
